Getting rescued from the street means learning what true love means. It's warm and full of hope, and safe. For one former street dog named Poof, it's all new and scary. All the little things, like walking up a staircase, feels impossible. But with a few words of encouragement from Mom and Dad, Poof is ready to take on the world.

On July 9, @pooftheboof shared the heartwarming video on TikTok showing Poof take on the stairs for the first time and it's beautiful to witness. Watch him conquer his fears in this sweet clip.

In the 15-second video titled, "He did it," Poof, who's standing at the bottom of the stairs with his tail wagging, hears Mom and Dad's encouragement and decides to go for it. Step by step, the sweet Pyrenees cautiously moves up the staircase, sniffing each as he passes. His inspiring story captured the heart of many who merely want to cheer him on and see his succeed.

"He's so brave," one person said. "Good boy," another wrote. "My heart has melted twice," another added.

Having been rescued from the street, Poof is experiencing all the things that happen in a loving, happy home for the first time. Fearful of nearly everything when he first arrived, the gentle pup is learning to open his heart and take chances with the unwavering support of his new "pawrents." You're doing great, Poof!

Helping a Rescue Dog Adjust To A New Home

Though exciting, adopting a new pup can feel overwhelming if you're not prepared. Luckily, The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) says there are things you can do to make your new dog feel comfortable in your home. Make sure you have all the supplies in advance. Things like a crate, bowls, a collar, toys, a bed and anything else that might make your new pup feel comfortable should be ready and waiting.

If you can, plan to bring them home on a weekend or when you have a couple of days off to spend getting to know each other and establishing a routine. Consistency is key to helping them settle in which in turn, will allow them to open up and show their real personality.

It can take a new dog months to get used to their new environment so be patient and you'll be best friends in no time. As for Poof, he's already there and we're so happy to see it!
