NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Yale made history on Wednesday as they rolled out the country’s first mobile clinic and pharmacy.

The vehicle, called “in-motion,” will bring a 38 foot mobile clinic and and retail pharmacy into underserved neighborhoods in the state.

“If you were to go on board, you would be seen potentially by a clinician, you could have your labs drawn right there and if needed, receive a prescription filled in the moment,” Sandra Springer, Yale professor of medicine, said.

The clinic will be staffed with a pharmacist, clinician and medical technician so that patients can combine a medical visit without having to go anywhere.

Mobile pharmacies were illegal under Connecticut state law until last year, when the lawmakers passed a bill clearing the way for the in-motion project.
