French fries are one of my all-time favorite side dishes. Their yummy flavor and crispy chewiness make me so happy! But as much as I love them, now and then I want something a little healthier. That’s where this two-potato oven fries recipe comes in. Our fries are made of two types of potatoes — russets and sweet potatoes — which gives them extra nutrients and twice as much flavor. And instead of frying them, we bake them in the oven, which reduces the fat without sacrificing taste. If anything, these fries taste even better!

For extra yum, we serve them with a creamy dipping sauce that has hints of garlic and lemon. The sauce perfectly balances the savory sweet flavor of the fries and also adds some tang. Honestly, these fries are so good, you won’t want to stop eating them! Give them a try and leave us a comment below.

    • ¾ cup mayonnaise
    • 1 clove garlic, minced
    • 1 Tbs. lemon juice
    • Cracked pepper
    • 2 russet baking potatoes (12 oz.), peeled, cut into ½"-thick matchsticks
    • 2 sweet potatoes (12 oz.), peeled, cut into ½"-thick matchsticks
    • 2 Tbs. olive oil
    • ¼ tsp. salt

    Instructions

Heat oven to 400°F. In bowl, combine mayonnaise, garlic and lemon juice; sprinkle with pepper. Reserve.

Coat large rimmed baking sheet with cooking spray. In large bowl, toss potatoes with oil and salt; spread in single layer over baking sheet. Bake until tender, 18–20 min., flipping potatoes halfway through baking time.

Heat broiler. Broil potatoes until lightly browned, 3–4 min. Serve with reserved mayonnaise mixture.
