U.S. Sens. John Kennedy, a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, and Bill Cassidy announced Wednesday additional grants from the Federal Emergency Management Agency for Louisiana disaster aid.

The Society of the Roman Catholic Church of the Diocese of Lake Charles will receive $2,168,873.44 in federal funding for the reconciliation of management costs incurred as a result of Hurricane Laura.

Lafourche Parish will receive $1,751,284.40 in federal funding for permanent restoration of the Tourist Commission Building as a result of Hurricane Ida.

“South Louisiana is working hard to rebuild following the devastation that Hurricanes Laura and Ida caused. This $3.9 million will help Lake Charles and Lafourche Parish restore their facilities and pay for other costs brought on by these storms,” Kennedy said.

“Louisiana remains strong in the aftermath of Hurricanes Laura and Ida,” Cassidy said. “This funding helps rebuild our churches and communities to ensure they are prepared when the next storm hits.”
