GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — The Pitt County Sheriff’s Office recently took part in the “Booze it or Lose It” campaign which lasted from June 24 – July 7.

The two week campaign is sponsored by the North Carolina Governor’s Highway Safety Program in which the goal is to reduce drunk driving and save lives doing so. This is accomplished by an increase in outreach and law enforcement stepping up.

Last year on the weekend of the fourth of July, North Carolina had 162 car crashes related to alcohol, including four fatalities.

According to the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office , over the two weeks there were two DWI arrests over the age of 21, as well as other arrests for seat belt violations, drug violations, etc.
