Wayne County is under a tornado watch until 9 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

The watch is due to the remnants of Beryl, now weakened after becoming the earliest Category 5 hurricane on record, moving northeast.

Neighboring Lackawanna and Susquehanna counties in Pennsylvania and Delaware and Broome counties in New York are also under the watch, which covers a swath from central Pennsylvania to northern Vermont.

A tornado watch means that weather conditions could produce tornadoes, while a tornado warning means that one has been spotted or indicated by radar.
