DOYLESTOWN, PA—The Bucks County Intermediate Unit (IU) in Doylestown has received a $135,000 grant to boost access to gifted education in Bucks County schools.

The Bucks County IU was one of 10 organizations in Pennsylvania to receive part of a $3.5 million initiative to boost funding for gifted students through the state’s Pennsylvania Gifted Education Initiative. The money will help teachers and school administrators in Bucks County identify more students as gifted and give them resources to improve their educational experience.

The Bucks County Intermediate Unit will serve as a regional training hub over the five-year period of the grant. The money will be spent to train educators to recognize potential in students across different cultures, increase identification of gifted students in underrepresented populations, help teachers better serve underrepresented gifted students, and provide support and training to families.

The Bucks County Intermediate Unit is an educational service agency that uses innovative teaching and learning strategies to make sure that all students in Bucks County have an opportunity to learn. Its board is made up of representatives from each of the schools in Bucks County.
