MENOMINEE, Mich. (WJMN) — Two beaches in Menominee County are closed after tests came back positive for E. Coli Wednesday afternoon.

The announcement came from the City of Menominee, which said both Henes and Memorial Beaches may have high levels of E. Coli bacteria in the water.

“Currently the water is not safe for human contact and advised to stay out of the water,” said the spokesperson.

A city spokesperson said signs are posted to warn potential beachgoers and that a retest of the waters is scheduled for Friday.

For more information on the beach closure, please contact Public Health Delta & Menominee Counties at 906-786-4111.
