    Claim:

An online graphic authentically shows Taylor Swift endorsing Joe Biden for the 2024 presidential election, saying: “Under their leadership, I believe America has a chance to start the healing process it so desperately needs.”

    Rating:

False ( About this rating? )

    Context:

Swift had not announced who she is endorsing for the 2024 elections, as of this writing. She made the above statement in support of Biden and Harris ahead of the 2020 elections.

In July 2024, a viral image claiming to show singer Taylor Swift's endorsement for U.S. President Joe Biden's candidacy went viral. A headline on the graphic stated, "Taylor Swift Backs Biden" with a purported quote from the singer stating, "Under their leadership, I believe America has a chance to start the healing process it so desperately needs." Below that was a "Biden-Harris 2024" label, suggesting she made these comments in 2024.

The above image is inaccurate, in that Swift had not yet publicly endorsed Biden for the 2024 elections as of this writing. While she did make the above statement in support of Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, she only did so for the 2020 elections. As such, we rate this claim as "False."

In October 2020, in an interview with entertainment outlet, V Magazine, Swift said:

I will proudly vote for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in this year's presidential election. Under their leadership, I believe America has a chance to start the healing process it so desperately needs.

However, per latest news reports from early 2024 and June 2024 , Swift had not backed Biden publicly. She made no such announcements in interviews or on her social media accounts. If Swift had made such an announcement, it would be all over reputable websites for entertainment and political news. We reached out to Swift's representative to learn more about who she will be supporting for the 2024 election and will update this story once we get more information.

During the 2020 election cycle she spoke out in favor of Biden just a month before the actual election.

While Democrats want to use her support ahead of the August 2024 Democratic convention, some suggest a strategy in which cultural icons like Swift help the party find a new candidate to replace Biden, according to a July 2024 report in Semafor , a news website. A few Democrats have floated a "blitz primary" proposal in the hopes that this would provide a pathway for Biden to step down and new candidates to come forward, with figures like Swift hosting weekly forums with those candidates.

In the past we have reported on false claims that Swift and her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, and even singer Miley Cyrus said they would leave the U.S. if Trump won the 2024 election.
