The Fourth of July and Toby Keith , name a better pair. The country music legend was well known for his support of the United States military and his patriotic country songs, including hits like “Courtesy of the Red, White & Blue,” “American Soldier,” and “Made In America.” In fact, his daughter Krystal recently said that Independence Day might be the hardest holiday for the family since his passing because it was one that meant so much to Toby:
“I’m expecting Fourth of July to just be the hardest one to take… That’s a time that we’ve always spent with him: We typically are at our lake house or the golf club, and that’s a really big holiday for him.” It was the first 4th of July since Toby passed away from stomach cancer back in February, and lots of people used the holiday as an opportunity to crank up his music and pay tribute to the legend. I can't even tell you how many times I heard "Courtesy of the Red, White & Blue" on the 4th, and how many TikToks and videos I saw featuring his iconic hit. It's safe to say that it was one of the most popular songs of the holiday, right up there with Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the USA." But it wasn't just his patriotic songs that people were streaming over the holiday: According to
Billboard , streams of Toby's music were up an incredible 165% on July 4, including a 356% increase for "Courtesy of the Red, White & Blue," a 380% increase for "Made In America," and a 308% increase for "American Soldier." Obviously his post-9/11 anthem was his most streamed song with 3.6 million streams. But the rest of Toby's catalog saw a boost from the day too, with "Should've Been A Cowboy" up by 70% and "Red Solo Cup" seeing a 119% increase. Gotta think Toby would be proud. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ruNrdmjcNTc
