Scoot: The truth about Project 2025 is making some people so uncomfortable they reject it

Revealing some of the frightening and dangerous intricacies of The Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025 has exposed one of the most frustrating aspects of hosting a talk show in 2024 - and one of the most frustrating things about being an American.

I have been in the media business a very long time, and even when I was doing music radio earlier in my career I talked about politics and presidential elections.  In 1976, I was suspended by the General Manager of the station I worked for because one day I said, “So tonight, President Ford and Jimmy Carter are debating on national television in front of a mass audience.  Doesn’t that make them ‘mass-debators?’” I thought it was creative and funny - the General Manager had other thoughts on the matter.

My point is that whether through jokes or serious conversation, I have never witnessed the kind of contempt and hate Americans have for each other over presidential candidates.

An excellent example of the contempt hurled at fellow Americans is bringing up some of the uncomfortable items in Project 2025.  Some aspects of the transitional plan if Trump wins in November are so disturbing that Trump has now distanced himself from the project, saying on Truth Social, “I know nothing about Project 2025.  I have no idea who is behind it.  I disagree with some of the things they’re saying and some of the things they’re saying are absolutely ridiculous and abysmal.”

Well, if Trump knows nothing about it or who is behind it, then how does he have opinions about what he doesn’t like about it?  The Heritage Foundation published Project 2025, which was created as a transition plan by people who have served Trump or are considered close allies to the former president.  But some of the items in this plan are so drastic in terms of reforming the U.S. government and dictating behavior in the personal lives of Americans that Trump wants to distance himself from the plan - but it is still being promoted elsewhere, and it is impossible to think that it is not a plan that will at least attempt to execute if he wins.  Eliminating nonpartisan federal employees that transition from President to President and replacing them with Trump loyalists and commandeering the DOJ, the FBI, the FCC and other federal departments to institutionalize Trumpism, and trying to eliminate recreational sex, ban birth control pills and criminalize pornography - all of it represents a direct assault on freedom in America.

Criticizing the banning and criminalization of pornography is not the same as me promoting porn, it is a show of my respect for The Constitution, which right-wing radicals often dismiss these days.

Let me share with you some of the comments on the Scoot On The Air [SOTA] Facebook page about my criticism of Project 2025; see how the comments are a distraction from the truth about the plan and don’t even mention the plan.

Darren: This whole thing is a hoax traced back to the Biden campaign like the Steele Dossier.  More Dem election interference.
Beverly: You really are trying anything to bash Trump it’s over. I’m not scared at all.  I know George Soros owns you and your need to keep saying the ignorant things you do to keep your job.
Chris: Fake news and fear mongering.
Carol Sue: A nation without a secure border scares me more.
Robert: BWAHAHA…is this something else that you found on Reddit?  These days, you have the credibility of Jessie Smollett.  It’s a shame that you weren’t this funny when you did mornings (a reference to me doing music radio.)

The dismissal of what is factual because it shines a negative light on the candidate of choice is scary and it has never been this bad.  Rejecting easily verifiable information simply because the message is contrary to what people want to believe is a threat to American democracy.

Many of the posts on the SOTA FB page were supportive and some who disagreed at least referenced Project 2025, but posts like the aforementioned that just attack because the information makes some people uncomfortable is a sad trend.  And, by the way, George Soros’s investment fund invested in the parent company that owns WWL - they don’t even have a majority stake - but he has NO influence over programming and I have never had a conversation with him.  Anyone who is buying that rhetoric has simply been brainwashed and that’s a FACT.

So I’ll continue with the information that I think is important during this crucial election season of 2024.  There are conservative shows on radio and cable TV that eliminate or downplay much of the truth about Donald Trump and the right-wing radicals who have taken over the Republican Party.  It’s interesting to witness the people who resent facts they are not getting from conservative media and social media, but this is America and people are free to believe what they want to believe.  But that doesn’t make what they believe true.

This is an embarrassing election season - Biden or Trump.  As I have said on my show long before the debate, Joe Biden is too old to go on and should retire and I still think there is a strong possibility he will not be the candidate to go against Trump.

My goal is not to tell anyone who to vote for, but in the case of Trump, just be aware of what you’re voting for - and Project 2025 is going to be an important plan for Trump if he wins, no matter what he is saying about it now.
