Do you remember watching movies as a kid and chanting “ew” with your friends if a kissing scene popped up? It looks like Gen Z still feels that way about sex scenes.

Survey results revealed by Talker earlier this month showed that the percentage of Gen Zers who admit to turning off a movie after they encounter a sex scene was getting close to half of the generation at 43%. That’s a higher percentage than any other generation.

We should note that Gen Z birthdates span from the late 1990s to the late 2010s , so some of them are indeed children, though Talker did not identify the participant age range in an article on the research. However, polls such as this Public Opinion Strategies/NBC News poll have explored just how different their views are from millennials, Gen X and baby boomers.

“Younger Americans and their tolerance of nudity and sex scenes in films has been a hot topic of discussion lately, and a recent study by The Economist found that nudity and sex scenes has dipped by nearly 40% since the year 2000,” said Talker.

It surveyed 2,000 Americans about their movie watching habits. Gen Z’s habit of abandoning a film after a sex scene was 10% higher than the overall average. Millennials were the least likely to let a sex scene ruin their movie fun at 26% who would turn a film off for a sex scene.

Women were twice as likely to turn off a sex scene than men at 42% to 23%. They were also move likely to believe that sex scenes have no place in modern film.

Talker noted that some films and TV shows are still including sex scenes. For example, there was full frontal male nudity in a recent episode of “House of the Dragon” on HBO, a network known for it’s risqué content.

Feeling squeamish about sex scenes isn’t the only thing Gen Z has made headlines for recently. Audacy has reported: that 50% of the generation said in a survey that being 10 minutes late was the same as being on time , that they are becoming known for their NEET lifestyle ( meaning they have no employment, education or training ), that they’re chewing special gum and silicone devices to make their jawlines look chiseled and that they are bringing their parents into the room with them when they go on job interviews.
