Gypsy Rose Admits Pregnancy Had The Wrong Timing: “I’m Going Through A Divorce”

On July 9th, Gypsy Rose Blanchard and her ex-fiance-turned-current boyfriend, Ken Urker, announced they are expecting their first child together. However, she admits that her pregnancy came at the wrong time, as she’s still going through a divorce and other personal struggles.

While speaking with PEOPLE , Blanchard said the timing of her pregnancy was not ideal but called it a blessing: “I take it in stride and move forward with it. I couldn’t be happier. It’s kind of the wrong timing, but it’s a blessing. So we’re happy.” Blanchard and Urker rekindled their relationship after being previously engaged while she was incarcerated for the her involvement in the murder of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard. The couple ended their engagement in 2019 but reunited after Blanchard was released from prison in December 2023.

When Blanchard was released from prison, she was already married to Ryan Anderson but filed for divorce in April. On the latest episode of Live After Lockup , she took a morning-after pill while she was still with Anderson. “At the time, with everything going on with me and Ryan and the instability of our marriage, it wasn’t the right time for me then. And I’m not even saying right now is the right time,” she explained.

Blanchard announced her pregnancy in a YouTube video titled “I’m Pregnant, My Journey So Far.” In the video, she addressed rumors about her pregnancy and wanted to confirm the news on her platform.

“I know the rumors have been flying around for quite some time now and I’m happy to announce that I am 11 weeks pregnant. Ken and I are expecting our very first child come January of 2025. This was not planned at all, it was completely unexpected, but we’re both very excited to take on this new journey of parenthood.”

She also addressed concerns from her followers and critics who believe she’s not ready to become a mother: “I know that there are going to be people who feel like I’m not ready to be a mother, and I don’t know if anyone’s really ready to be a mother.”
