Good Samaritan offers free stroke screenings later this summer

VINCENNES, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— In early August Good Samaritan will be offering residents of Knox County free stroke screenings.

On August 7, Good Samaritan will give people the chance to get screenings for signs of impending strokes. During the screenings attendees will be asked to visit multiple different booths for an array of tests. Good Samaritan along with their partners at the Knox County Health Department will provide free blood pressure and body mass index screenings. Attendees can also have a lipid profile done, an A1C and carotid artery screening, and an atrial fibrillation. There will also be educators, registered nurses, and a dietician on site giving out valuable information and hand-outs on different strategies to reduce the risk of stroke.

“We are happy to once again offer these free screenings to our community,” said Erika Watts, RN Stroke Coordinator at Good Samaritan. “This is a great time to raise awareness about stroke, and also educate everyone about the signs, symptoms and risk factors for stroke.”

Appointments are required to come for your screenings and space is limited. The screenings will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Charles C. Hedde, MD Health Education Center at Good Samaritan. For anyone interested in signing up can go online and register at their website or call 812-885-3336.
