During Glastonbury, Lila Moss recently channeled her supermodel mother Kate Moss’ iconic music-festival style while wearing chunky black biker boots with a flirty, butterfly-printed bias minidress, designed by cult-followed English fashion label Rat & Boa.

The Beatriz dress launched this week on the label’s e-commerce and sits within Rat & Boa cofounders Valentina Muntoni and Stephanie Cara Bennett’s latest summer drop, titled Salvador. The collection expands the duo’s well-known meld of their personal styles, as seen on the likes of Kylie and Kendall Jenner, Emily Ratajkowski and more — via custom bold prints, sheer and sexy dresses and new swimwear .

“Rat is myself, with the darker tones and grunge aesthetic; Boa is Stephanie — a take on the bohemian aspect. The duality of the contrasts — that’s how it started” Muntoni told WWD, noting global travels and vintage, especially nods to ‘90s grunge and ‘70s boho, have always been strong inspirations.

Shot in Salvador, Brazil, the summer collection embodies both spirits while playing into the Latin city’s vibrancy, as seen through bright pink, acid green and sea blue dresses; butterfly printed swimwear, cover-ups and frocks, and statement sparkling numbers, like the “disco goddess” sequined Solar dress.

“We’ve definitely grown up with the brand. Our tagline is ‘bold and spirited’ so we love to have bold colors and be a little more playful with the shapes, but I think we’ve matured with it, so the garments are more timeless. We’ll always play on fabrics, as we love sheer fabrics,” Muntoni said.

Recently, the line’s evolution has included a debut, all-white, bridal-minded Genesis collection, and the launch Bare Essentials — custom undergarments designed to be layered under their myriad sheer styles. Muntoni said they were commercially successful and designed based on customer feedback.

The brand is connected to its consumers, and on Tuesday invited social media followers (alongside influencers and VIPs) to the Salvador summer collection party.

“We want to keep growing our community, then slowly but surely building [retail] shops so you can get the swim, resortwear and eveningwear,” Muntoni said of the brand’s goals in the coming years, noting interest in global pop-up shops and event alongside expansions into new fashion categories.
