The Killers interrupt concert to show final minutes of England win

US rock band The Killers interrupted their concert in London for a moment to show the final minutes of England's 2-1 victory against the Netherlands in the Euro 2024 semi-finals on Wednesday.

The band stayed on stage as the last minutes of the game were shown on a big screen. After the final whistle, the around 20,000 concert-goers in attendance celebrated euphorically.

Masses of red and white confetti were shot into the crowd before The Killers resumed the concert with their top hit "Mr Brightside," causing even more euphoria.

Videos of the moment quickly went viral on social media, but many have been already taken down due to copyright reasons.

On X, The Killers shared pictures of the concert and said: "Today we played for England!"

The band is very popular in Britain and Wednesday's concert was their fifth of six performances in London this week, as part of their Rebel Diamons tour.

Ollie Watkins scored a late goal for England to send the Three Lions into the Euro 2024 final in Berlin on Sunday, when they will face title favourites Spain.

Football meets music

This was not the first time that football met music during the Euro 2024.

Former One Direction member Louis Tomlinson delighted the attendees of the Glastonbury festival by bringing along a television to watch England play against Slovakia in the last 16.

The singer attended the festival as a concert-goer, rather than performing himself and set the television up in the camp grounds.

Festival organizers decided not to show Euros matches in big screens because the games would clash with headline sets.
