The planned transfer of forward Serhou Guirassy from VfB Stuttgart to Borussia Dortmund is on hold for the time being due to problems during the medical check.

According to dpa information, a new medical check isn't planned until the beginning of the coming week.

A video from the Ruhr Nachrichten newspaper showed Guirassy making his way back to Stuttgart from the Dortmund airport after failing the medical tests.

Dortmund said on X on Wednesday: "During a medical examination of Serhou Guirassy, an injury was discovered and it requires further clarification."

According to media reports, the player has already agreed to a four-year contract with the Champions League runners-up.

The Bild newspaper reported that the issue was an old injury which didn't fully heal. Guirassy suffered the injury while on duty with the Guinea national team. Dortmund are now seeking a second opinion from a specialist.

The transfer can only be finalized after a second medical check, but Bild said on Wednesday that the deal was not seriously at risk of falling through.

    Dortmund start pre-season

Dortmund held their first training session for the 2024-25 season under new coach Nuri Sahin on Thursday.

Their several Euro 2024 participants as well as Giovanni Reyna, who played in the Copa America with the United States, won't start training until the end of July.

Dortmund have already finalized the transfer of Waldemar Anton from Stuttgart and are close to signing Germany international Pascal Gross, who has a contract with Brighton until 2025.
