Elections 2024 live: Biden virtual nomination set for before Democratic convention despite dire new polling

The Democratic National Committee is said to be moving ahead with plans to virtually nominate Joe Biden ahead of the party’s convention in August.

This is despite an outcry from House Democrats for the president to step aside in favor of a new candidate in light of dire polling since the disastrous presidential debate against Donald Trump .

Biden is back on the campaign trail in the crucial swing state of Nevada , giving a fiery speech to the NAACP meeting and interviews with Black and Latino networks. Later today he will deliver remarks at the UnidosUS Annual Conference.

Meanwhile, former president Trump is crying foul over reports that the president is set to propose a major overhaul of the US Supreme Court , including term limits for justices and an enforceable code of ethics.

The right-leaning court is currently plagued by ethics scandals, controversies over its rulings, and concerns that justices’ personal politics are holding too much sway.

The president is also said to be considering calling for a new constitutional amendment that would eliminate sweeping immunity for presidents and other officeholders in the wake of the court’s ruling connected to Trump’s federal election interference case.
