Morning Joe Goes Scorched Earth on Obama, Suggests Jealous Ex-President Is Behind Clooney’s Biden Op-Ed

MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski teed off on former President Barack Obama Thursday morning, blaming him for a scathing New York Times op-ed by George Clooney calling for President Joe Biden to be replaced as the Democratic presidential nominee.

“This wasn’t George Clooney,” declared Brzezinski suddenly while her husband and co-host Joe Scarborough enumerated his favorite films starring Clooney.

“What do you mean?” he asked.

“It just wasn’t, come on,” she replied.

The pair continued:

SCARBOROUGH: But who do you think it was, Matt Damon ?

BRZEZINSKI: [Laughing] It was not Matt Damon. It wasn’t Julia Roberts , either.

SCARBOROUGH: Who do you think it was? Who do you think it was? You can say the name, you won’t melt. It’s not Voldemort. Are you saying you think Barack Obama put him up to this?

BRZEZINSKI: I think that Barack Obama has a lot of influence, and I think that there’s, there’s a lot there.

SCARBOROUGH: There’s a lot there!

BRZEZINSKI: There’s a lot there!

SCARBOROUGH: There’s a lot there!

With a photograph of Clooney, Biden, and Obama displayed on the screen, Brzezinski went in for the kill.

“I’ll tell you, there were two people in this picture, and one has had a presidency that was absolutely, undeniably historic,” she declared, referring to Biden.

“Well, I think you have two people that had extraordinarily historic presidencies,” replied Scarborough, seemingly nudging Brzezinski to acknowledge the fact that Obama was the United States’ first Black president.

“Oh, I’m sorry,” she interjected. “Historic in terms of legislative accomplishments.”

In his op-ed , Clooney wrote “It’s devastating to say it, but the Joe Biden I was with three weeks ago at the fund-raiser was not the Joe ‘big F-ing deal’ Biden of 2010. He wasn’t even the Joe Biden of 2020. He was the same man we all witnessed at the debate.

Obama has been publicly supportive of Biden in the weeks since his disastrous debate performance, but reportedly did speak to Clooney before his op-ed was published.

Earlier in the program, Scarborough declared that “The Biden campaign and many Democratic officials do believe that Barack Obama is quietly working behind the scenes to orchestrate this.”

“And if Joe Biden believes that, that’s not going to get him out of the race any faster,” he continued. “Anytime David Axelrod attacks him, David Axelrod ensures that Joe Biden will dig himself in another day. Anytime the pod bros say something nasty about Joe Biden — which they they have repeatedly said nasty things about Joe Biden before the debate, after the debate — every time they do that, he digs in a little bit further.”
