Angela Hutchinson went on social media to share the results of getting liposuction on her chin. She wasn’t prepared for the cruel response.
Ms Hutchinson, 34, lives on NSW’s Central Coast and spent $4800 on liposuction, a cosmetic procedure in which fat is removed from an area of the body.
She told news.com.au that after losing 10kg, she was hoping to lose weight around her face, but once she realised nothing was “changing” in that area, she elected to get some work done.
“It’s hereditary. My Nan has it, and it wasn’t getting any better with age, so I thought, while I was still young, I could do something about it,” she explained.

When she was initially recovering, she experienced bruising and swelling, which she described as “a lot,” but she was instantly happy with the results.
She then posted a TikTok showing the difference in how her chin looked before and after the procedure, figuring she’d reach an audience of people who would be interested in the results.
She was instead surprised that she was immediately trolled online.

Ms Hutchinson said that the response was not what she was expecting and was “getting out of hand”.
“It blows my mind that people can have such a strong opinion of me from watching a 12-second clip. The hate comments have been insane,” she shared.
The comments aren’t worth repeating, but Ms Hutchinson reported they ranged from people telling her she should just “put the fork down” and lose more weight to telling her she was “lazy” for getting a cosmetic intervention.
Despite the response, Ms Hutchinson doesn’t regret sharing her results online because she feels it still reached the right audience. Angela Hutchinson/Instagram
“I guess it’s quite a big change, but I’m not sure why they took it personally. I feel like I’m a believer in doing what makes you happy, but it did seem to stir people up,” she told news.com.au.

“It also helps those people that have the same issue and are struggling with it now know that there’s an option,” she said.

Liposuction is an invasive medical procedure. Individual results can vary due to factors like genetics, diet, and exercise. Side effects can include unexpected bleeding, severe bruising and swelling, uneven skin texture, poor skin elasticity and scarring.
