    How The Bible Views Abuse

Have you been physically or psychologically abused? If so, you understand how difficult it is to transition from being the victim, which you are/ were, to being empowered. I know that I carried a lot of guilt and shame. Having the man that I loved arrested for abusing me was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. Enduring over a year of court hearings has been even harder emotionally. Losing someone I loved is also heartbreaking, let alone trying to understand why this all happened.

But, I believe justice must be served. This was not the first time he has beaten a woman, and unless he seeks long-term anger management, I believe he will do it again. So, I am working through my own battles with guilt. This has nothing to do with revenge on my part.

How Does The Bible Feel About Abuse?

In the Bible, all violence is considered offensive to God. The scriptures are full of condemnations of violence and how it is detestable to the Lord (Psalm 11, Proverbs 3 & 10). The Bible speaks in particular about condemning violence toward women. The Bible used terms such as oppression (meaning crushing of someone's soul).

We are to resist violence, especially in retaliation for violence used against us (Luke 6:29).

    When an Abuser Finds God

I believe that even the worst offender can have a dark night of the soul and unite with a higher power whether you call it God, Jesus, Buddha, or something else. However, I also believe this can be used falsely in order to appear holy and avoid a maximum court sentence. This form of manipulation, coupled with the defendant showing zero remorse, is sickening.

God hates evil and punishes evil-doers. We do not need to seek revenge because God will handle it in good time.

"God will bring into judgment the righteous and the wicked, for there will be a time for every activity, a time to judge every deed." ~Ecclesiates 3:17; Hebrews 10:30; Romans 12:19

    Final Thoughts

As someone abused, if you feel you are worthless or unloveable, please think again. You matter, and you are loved and accepted.

"You are precious to me. You are honored, and I love you." (Isaiah 43:4 NLT)
"I have chosen you and have not rejected you. So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous hand." (Isaiah 41: 9-10)

If you have been or are currently abused and need immediate help, call The Domestic Help Hotline 800-799-72-33 or text 88788. Please know you are never alone, and no one deserves to be abused, no matter what. PERIOD.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I appreciate you. Please comment and tell me your story, or simply tell me where you are from.

    Peace & Light,

    Libby

I'm praying for you. Don't forget that three cords are stronger than one, and to rebuke any evil in the name of Jesus. Also in Ephesians 6:10-20, it talk about the armor of God. Every morning, you pray and ask God for that armor. May the Lord guide you and protect you, sister 🙏 ❀
