(670 The Score) It’s commonplace for at least one team in the NFL each season to rebound by winning its division after finishing last in it the year prior.

In 2023, it was the Houston Texans who made the big jump by going 10-7 to win the AFC South after going a division-worst 3-13-1 the year before. As we now look ahead to the 2024 campaign, the Mully & Haugh crew stayed on that topic to debate this question – which team has the best chance in the NFL to go from worst-to-first this season? Could it be the Bears?

“The Bears are capable, they’re capable of doing it this year,” Score morning host David Haugh said. “I don’t think they will because the Lions are in their way, and I don’t think the Lions are ready to step out of that first-place spot anytime soon.”

The Bears are coming off a 7-10 season in 2023, when they tied for last in the NFC North with the Vikings. They’ve revamped their offensive by drafting quarterback Caleb Williams and receiver Rome Odunze while also acquiring six-time Pro Bowl receiver Keenan Allen in a trade.

Beyond the Bears, the Bengals are the other prime candidate for a worst-to-first jump. Cincinnati went a respectable 9-8 in 2023 but still finished last in a really tough AFC North. Star quarterback Joe Burrow only played 10 games due to injury last season.

The Patriots, Titans, Chargers, Commanders, Panthers and the Cardinals are the other six teams that finished last in 2023.

“The Bengals are the answer here,” Haugh said.

    Co-host Mike Mulligan agreed.

"Without question, it's the Bengals," Mulligan said. "Because of Joe Burrow. Joe Burrow is good enough to beat every team in his division."
