Houston, Cabool and Texas County report sales tax revenue

Sales tax revenue surged in Houston and Texas County in June, while Cabool experienced a decline in its collections.

HOUSTON

A one-cent sales tax earmarked for parks, police and fire generated $85,245.61 for the month of June. That’s up $2,782.65 from the same period a year ago.

A one-cent general sales tax totaled $86,105.44. That’s an increase of $2,336.91 from the same period last year.

Two quarter-cent sales taxes – one for transportation and one for utility work – each totaled $21,311 in the month of June. That’s up $696 from the same period last year.

A use tax applied to out-of-state internet orders totaled $$10,946.52 for the month. That’s down $4,795.76 from the same period last year.

CABOOL

A one-cent general sales tax totaled $32,870.34. That’s a decrease of $6,848.30 from the same period last year.

A half-cent sales tax for transportation needs totaled $16,435.22 in the month of June. That’s down $3,423.91 from the same period last year.

A use tax applied to out-of-state internet orders totaled $7,421.42 for the month. That’s down $2,122.03 from the same period last year.

A half-cent sales tax earmarked for law enforcement totaled $16,097.91 for the month.

TEXAS COUNTY

For Texas County, merchants collect three half-cent sales taxes. Each totaled $120,807 for June, which represented an increase of $12,572 on each from the same period a year ago.

The sales tax on out-of-state sales totaled $69,148.27 for the month. That was down $47,994.35 from the same month in 2023. Sales tax on out-of-state sales is up $138,714.11 through the first half of the year, compared to 2023.

Revenue from a three-eighths sales tax earmarked for law enforcement totaled $84,134.16, which was up $9,272.23 for the month.
