That’s what happens when you hit the largest animal in North America. Bison ain’t nothing to mess with. These majestic beasts can weigh up around 2,000 pounds, drawing people from far and wide to come witness their power and strength in the wild. And one of the most popular destinations to see them in the United States? Yellowstone National Park. These massive creatures are often calm and just graze along. But once a year, during the rut, they become very aggressive and will smash heads with other bulls for the right to mate with the females of the herd. Needless to say, they will have no trouble running over a person or totaling a car. Bison are herd animals and grazers, meaning there is often many of them and the move along slowly. They often cause road blocks in areas as they cut through their habitat. Hitting one is pretty rare, since you usually see a whole mess of them, but it can be devastating for your vehicle. Like hitting a brick wall... This guy found that out the hard way when it was coming on dark. Driving his car through Yellowstone at night, most likely going way too fast for the landscape, he smashed into an average-sized bison. It left his car totally ruined, and the bison severely injured. A lady stopped to see how he was doing, and to check if he had called the park rangers. She asked if he needed anything and he hit her with the kind of sarcastic humor that only a dad could muster in that moment:
“A new car.” Yes... yes, you do need a new car, sir... A number of comments took exception to the woman asking the man if he needed help while paying no mind to the struggling bison, and it's a fair point, but at the same time, what are you supposed to do about it? Park rangers were already called and will assess the bison's injuries, and they most likely put it down in this scenario where it will become food for a number of other animals in the park like wolves, bears, buzzards, etc... Of course, it's a tragic end for this beautiful beast, and I'd imagine the man is to blame for driving too fast at night in the park, but it's a part of life for animals in the wild. The struggle to survive is real from day one. Not only are animals at Yellowstone, and across the country, fighting for food, fighting to avoid predators, fighting disease and harsh environments... they're fighting humans, hunters, and traffic too. That's life in the wild... https://www.instagram.com/reel/C6jjyQBRWpO/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link
