Demi Moore and Margaret Qualley star in new teaser for 'The Substance': Watch here

"Have you ever dreamt of a better version of yourself? Younger? More beautiful? More perfect?" asks the opening seconds of the new teaser for "The Substance" starring Demi Moore , Margaret Qualley and Dennis Quaid.

Set to bass-heavy music, the fast-paced teaser, released by Mubi, breaks into a sequence of shots alternating between scenes of Moore and other characters appearing content, and shots of misery including one of Moore on the floor squealing in pain and a car accident.

The teaser centers around a green substance flashed on screen multiple times with a label reading "ACTIVATOR."

At one point, playing on the theme of image contortion, Quaid shouts "Pretty girls should always smile!" in an orange suit standing in front of a group of on-looking men.

That line is juxtaposed by shots of Qualley with blood on her face and Moore smearing lipstick on her face. Watch the full teaser for the film here .

"The Substance," which took home the award for 2024's best screenplay at Cannes Film Festival, is directed by Coralie Fargeat.

"Have you ever dreamt of a better version of yourself? You. Only better in every way. You should try this new product, The Substance. IT CHANGED MY LIFE," reads a vague synopsis of the film.

"The Substance" hits theatres Sept. 20.
