Who is Dan Gilroy? Shelley Duvall found love with musician despite large age gap

Shelley Duvall, best known for her role in The Shining, died aged 75 .

Her partner Dan Gilroy confirmed her death on July 11, 2024. Gilroy, 65, was a member of the early Madonna band The Breakfast Club.

He was also notoriously associated with Madonna as her former bandmate, even having a fleeting romantic liaison with the superstar.

Their hit song "Right on Track" climbed to the seventh spot on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, reports the Irish Star .

Their love story began back in 1989 on the set of the Disney Channel film, Mother Goose Rock 'n' Rhyme. In this film, Dan played Gordon Goose while Shelley portrayed Little Bo Peep.

The duo shared a home in Texas till Duvall's death due to diabetes complications.

Prior to Gilroy, Shelley was married to artist Bernard Sampson, but they separated in 1974. In 1976, her life took another turn when she met singer Paul Simon. They kicked off their relationship on a good note and lived together for two years.

However, their love story hit a sour note when Paul left Shelley for her friend Carrie Fisher.
