The Keep Carter County Beautiful (KCCB) organization will be removing trash and litter from Milligan Highway on July 20 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cleanup will cover Milligan Highway from Highway 321 to Okolona Road. Community members are encouraged to join and support the effort, as many hands make light work.

In appreciation for volunteers, KCCB will provide gift cards for lunch from Jersey Mike’s in Elizabethton. Volunteers are invited to come out, contribute to the community, and enjoy lunch on KCCB.

Volunteers will meet at the Happy Valley Elementary School parking lot on Milligan Highway. KCCB will provide gloves, garbage bags, safety vests, and trash grabbers. Participants are advised to bring their own water, although drinks will be available.

As this is a Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) event, all volunteers will be required to sign a waiver. Volunteers under 18 years of age will need to have a waiver signed by a parent or guardian. A TDOT safety video is available on the “Events” page of the KCCB website at www.kccbtn.org . A map to Happy Valley Elementary School is also available on the website.

Safety vests and grabbers have been provided by Keep Tennessee Beautiful and the Keep America Beautiful Affiliate Support Program. TDOT provided garbage bags and will handle the pickup of the collected trash.

KCCB extends its gratitude to all volunteers and supporters, recognizing their efforts in making the community a better place to live and visit.
