Joe Jonas Says Solo Album Coming Later This Year Is His 'Most Personal' Music Yet

Joe Jonas confirmed he has a solo album coming out later this year, revealing that the project he developed amid his divorce from Sophie Turner includes his "most personal music" yet.

The 34-year-old singer teased the upcoming album during an appearance on the "Therapuss" podcast on Thursday, telling host Jake Shane that the project began when he had an idea for a song and realized he wanted to release it solo, without his groups the Jonas Brothers or DNCE.

“I was like, ‘I don’t know what it’s for, but I know I want to work on something. I feel, like, the pull emotionally to work on music,'" Jonas said.

Siblings Kevin Jonas and Nick Jonas told him to "go for it" when he brought them the news. At the time, they were working on other projects, with Kevin busy on Season 3 of "Claim to Fame" and Nick working on a movie.

“So I had the window of time, and I locked myself away,” Joe said. “We made an album in two to three weeks. I’m just really excited. It’s the most personal music I have ever put out.”

In May, he teased the first single, "Work It Out," on TikTok, and it seemed to reference his divorce from the "Game of Thrones" actress.

"Stop being sad because you’re making the room uncomfortable / OK I get it / I know you’re feeling so miserable / Sometimes I wish I had powers to be invisible," he sang in the clip. “Even baddies get saddies, and that’s the hardest truth / Called your mommy and daddy, they don’t know what to do.”

The rest of the album will include “some real beautiful ballads” and “songs about being a dad.”

Joe secretly told the podcast host the title for the upcoming album while hiding his mouth from the camera. He didn't specify a release date, saying only it would come later this year.

In September 2023, news broke that Joe had filed for divorce from Sophie, 28, after four years of marriage. They share daughters Willa, 3, and Delphine, 2.

When Joe filed for divorce in the U.S., the English actress in her own filing accused him of withholding their children's passports to prevent them form returning home to England as planned after she wrapped shooting for upcoming TV series "Joan." At the time, he and his brothers were on tour in the U.S.

The international custody dispute was eventually resolved, with the actress telling British Vogue in a May interview that she is doing her "best" to co-parent with her ex, whom she called a "great father" despite being "unhappy with the way everything played out."
