South Korea Deploys ‘Star Wars’ Laser Weapons to Target Kim Jong Un’s Drones

South Korea is set to become the first country to use weaponized laser beams in its bid to fend off Kim Jong Un ’s drone intrusions.

Knewz.com has learned that the United States ally has dubbed the new weapon a “Star Wars project”, and it is expected to cost the southern peninsula country as little as $1.45 per zap.

The country’s Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) broke the news in a statement that said:

“Our country is becoming the first country in the world to deploy and operate laser weapons, and our military's response capabilities on North Korea 's drone provocation will be further strengthened.”

It also noted that, unlike conventional weapons, the laser beam will be silent and invisible when in use.

The impending implementation comes amidst ever-intensifying tensions between South Korea and its provocative northern neighbor.

According to reports , in December 2023 the Kim regime sent five drones across the demilitarized zone (DMZ) triggering a spate of defensive maneuvers including the scrambling of fighter jets and attack helicopters.

While said intrusion was the first since 2017, the two countries have (technically) been at war since 1950. In 1953 an armistice agreement was signed and a guarded demilitarized border zone was built.

The strip separating the two countries has become the site of many incidents.

One such event transpired in late June 2024, when members of the South Korean army fired warning shots at Kim’s soldiers.

Following the altercation, the South Korean military gave their version of events, saying:

“At 12:30 PM on the 9th, some North Korean soldiers working within the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) on the central front simply crossed the Military Demarcation Line and moved north after our military’s warning broadcast and warning shots.”

“Aside from the North Korean soldiers immediately moving north after our military’s warning shots, there were no unusual movements,” per local publication, Hani .

Less than two weeks later, another report indicated that multiple soldiers from the north were injured in an explosion .

The blast occurred along the northern side of the DMZ after months of mine laying and erecting structures believed to be anti-tank measures.

More recently, Knewz.com reported that Kim’s defense chief orchestrated hundreds of thrash and excrement-filled balloons crossing the dividing line.

The chagrined South Korean government claimed that the action “violated the international law and seriously threatened the safety of the Korean people.”

It further noted: “ Military personnel specializing in handling biological, chemical, and radiological agents and explosives are collecting the balloons on the ground.”

Said action, however, was triggered by an earlier balloon bombardment from the southern side of the DMZ.

Reports indicate that anti-Kim activists and North Korean defectors living in the democratic country sent balloons northwards with leaflets bearing pro-democracy propaganda.

This then triggered a pre-trash balloon threat from Kim’s ministry saying that “tit-for-tat action will be also taken against frequent scattering of leaflets and other rubbish by the ROK near border areas.”
