Last month, Stevie Nicks clearly stated there is no way Fleetwood Mac will get back together following the death of Christine McVie in 2022 . Mick Fleetwood shared a similar sentiment last year, but he's having a hard time coping with it. The drummer spoke about his struggles with the band ending in a new interview with Mojo .

“It’s been a strange time for me,” he said. “Losing sweet Christine was catastrophic. And then, in my world, sort of losing the band too. And I split with my partner as well. I just found myself sort of licking my wounds.”

What makes the pill even harder to swallow is the fact that Fleetwood Mac intended on continuing their 2019 tour before the pandemic happened. “There was a full intention, without waiting too long, that we’d go and pick things back up," Fleetwood explained. "That we’d play stadiums, big shows and festivals… and then at that point it was heading towards us saying goodbye.”

He also spoke on Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham 's tumultuous relationship, expressing that he hopes there's "healing between them."

“It’s no secret, it’s no title-tattle that there is a brick wall there emotionally,” Fleetwood, who's still in touch with both musicians, said. “Stevie’s able to speak clearly about how she feels and doesn’t feel, as does Lindsey."

“But I’ll say, personally, I would love to see a healing between them," he added. "And that doesn’t have to take the shape of a tour, necessarily.”

Buckingham and Nicks were in a relationship when they joined Fleetwood Mac at the end of 1974. Their romance ended in 1976 but they tried to keep things professional for the sake of the band. Both members spent time away from the band and rejoined, before Buckingham was fired in 2018 . Fleetwood Mac's last tour was in 2019.
