Prince Harry's strained ties with King Charles are highlighted by the fact that the Duke of Sussex is required to schedule a meeting to see his own dad . Royal commentator, Duncan Larcombe, suggests Harry is facing a "subtle punishment" through this "stand-off approach."

After stepping back from Royal duties in early 2020, Harry now resides in the US with Meghan Markle and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

Despite visiting the UK several times since his departure, the 39 year old has had minimal interaction with his relatives , it seems.

Speaking around the anniversary of the late Queen's passing, Mr Larcombe indicated that Harry is being "punished" in a minor way by King Charles , who insists on appointments for family meetings.

The Mirror quoted him saying: "It appears that King Charles' approach towards Harry now is business as usual - 'if you want to see me you need to make an appointment'.

"Harry will have to get past the grey suits and jump through hoops to talk to his father. It's very stand-offish but I think that's a way that the King is subtly punishing his son."

In contrast to their father, Prince William reportedly remains less willing to reconcile and hasn't seen his brother since the late Queen's funeral in 2022.

As previously reported by The Sun, Mr Larcombe commented: "It's remarkable really, because when Charles became King he said he loved Harry and Meghan which was a huge olive branch - which Harry then took, snapped in half and then hit him with it.."

"The King is still keeping those channels of communication open, where William isn't."

Meghan and Harry are now residing in their extravagant Montecito home with their two children, Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3.
