Hope Lutheran to host Red Cross Bloodmobile

Hope Lutheran Church announced that at least 22 blood donors will be needed when it hosts a visit from the Red Cross Bloodmobile, noon to 5 p.m. Friday, July 19, 211 Parr Road, Woodburn.

Donors must be at least 17 years old, or 16 with parental consent, and they can make an appointment by contacting the church at 503-981-0400 or info@hopewoodburn.org or by registering directly at redcrossblood.org and scrolling down to Hope Lutheran under Woodburn’s 97071 zip code.

The entire donation process, including registration, donation and resting, requires about an hour.

It is recommended that donors drink plenty of water the day before donating, consume a hearty breakfast and lunch with foods rich in iron, such as red meat, fish, poultry, beans, broccoli, spinach, raisins or prunes. Further advice recommends avoiding caffeinated beverages or fatty foods before donating, and to wear loose fitting sleeves to accommodate the donation process.
