Sandusky County Fairgrounds facilities are growing with the construction of a $200,000 set of livestock buildings .

Now in the midst of construction, there’s a roof but not yet sides to the building. The pair of buildings are pole barns, intended to work together, with a multipurpose design.

Harold Overmyer is the chairman of the building and grounds committee and a past president of the fair board.

“The Anderson (Arena) building is the actual showroom. We thought it would have to have a breezeway because normally (the animals) would be out in the weather, maybe it’s been raining or something,” Overmyer said. “It’s in excess of $200,000. Definitely $200,000-plus. We’re still in the process. We’re still collecting money for the barn, and also the pens. We’re still taking donations, for the barn and the pens.”

Find out all the other details about the building , like what's next to do, what it replaced and why.

Good news to end week: IGNITE Graduation

    https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=3S8au9_0uNkKTUB00

There will be another IGNITE Program graduation on July 18 at the Sandusky County Sheriff’s Office.

I attended, and covered, the last IGNITE graduation. it was inspirational. Without a doubt, the graduates had hit a low point in their lives, but this is that step in the right direction.

It will take place at the Sandusky County Sheriff’s Office gymnasium, and despite Sheriff Chris Hilton's last name, the location isn't posh. You wouldn't know it by the faces of the graduates, family and educators.

It's right to recognize what Hilton calls "the outstanding efforts of our students in the areas of personal development, education, substance abuse and mental health, and workforce development."

The graduates have had to put in more work on themselves than they have probably ever done, but Hilton also recognizes the community partners, their commitment to the program, the community and the individuals in the facility. The graduates are in the jail for a reason, often for a lifetime of reasons, and many have been written off by the community. The various community partners have chosen kindness and assistance to try and make the world a better place, one person at a time.

Here is a link to the story I did on the last IGNITE Graduation .
