As someone who's kind of "meh" on celebrity culture in general, celebrity home tours can be hit and miss for me. Sometimes the homes are just sort of generic, and you can tell that the celeb giving the tour isn't having a whole lot of fun with the experience. It really takes a certain touch of personality to make a celebrity home tour memorable.
Fortunately, Sofia Vergara has personality in spades both on and off the TV screen, and it shows in this home tour with Architectural Digest . Her home itself is objectively stunning, but it's her quippy commentary and infectious sense of humor that fully won me over!
I love how carefree and unpretentious this @archdigest home tour is! Sofia Vergara is clearly having a good time with the visit, and she's not above making a few jokes at her own expense, like when she showed off that jawdropping, enormous La Cornue stove in her kitchen, only to admit that she has no idea how to use it - nor does she care to learn.
"My son, Manolo, is great at cooking, and he said that this was what I needed in the house," Vergara confessed. "So here it is. I only care that it looks amazing." That it does! Besides, Vergara had more important things to focus on, like her well-stocked bar: "Where happiness lives."
I loved that she kept up the irreverent quips even while touring the most private areas of her home, like her master bedroom:
"And this is... you know what this is. This is where the good times happen," Vergara said cheekily, holding on to her four-poster canopy bed . "Allllll the sleeping. Eight hours!"
Sofia Vergara's Home Tour
This TikTok snippet was just a compilation of a few fun moments from Architectural Digest' s full home tour, which was uploaded to their YouTube channel a few months prior. Between Vergara's charismatic commentary and her lovely-looking home, I wanted to see more, and the full home tour was well worth the watch!
As far as celebrity homes go, this one's a winner. The Beverly Park mansion has a very open Mediterranean aesthetic that's so classically SoCal chic - it feels very "Old Hollywood" in a great way. Of course, it didn't always look as breezy and stylish as it does here. Vergara said that when she originally bought the mansion, it looked like "a house in Transylvania"- LOL!
Still, the home's beautiful grounds won her over, and with the help of a skilled interior designer , she made the space her own. It's somewhat minimalist, yet full of charming, distinctive detailing - I especially loved the gorgeous handpainted floral motifs in her dining room ceiling.
Unlike some celebrity homes I've seen, which look more like staged open houses than lived-in homes, the house is full of her personality. Vergara loves art and has a passion for collecting all kinds of unique treasures, from 18th-century French baroque art to colorful crystal birds (and as someone who loves both crystals and birds, I'm starting my own collection after this).
I could gab about this gorgeous home all day, but you can check out Architectural Digest 's home tour and see it for yourself. The lavish Los Angeles mansion is worthy of a virtual walk-through on its own, but it's Vergara's commentary, personal stories, and quirky comedic sensibilities that make this a gold-star celeb home tour!
