KANAWHA COUNTY, WV (WOWK) – The Kanawha County Emergency Ambulance Authority is moving closer to making care and response times better and faster for their community.

West Virginia Governor Jim Justice delivered $1 million to the organization as part of the ongoing project to build four permanent EMS stations in South Charleston, St. Albans, Marmet and Dunbar.

“Having a place that’s comfortable to them so they can get the rest needed when they can get it. And so, that’s why we made this a priority. This is over a $3 million project,” said Kanawha County Commission President Lance Wheeler. “These facilities will allow us to be able to house our employees that are stationed at those facilities, but also be able to park our ambulances in out of the weather into a garage back.”

The funding from Thursday’s presentation comes from non-federal matching funds.
