TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Wabash River Planning Partnership wants you to help shape the riverfront.

This year the Vigo County Fair will not just be games, rides, food, and animals but will also give members of the community a chance to give their input on the future of the town. The Partnership will have tents set up at the fair that will be interactive and allow community members to assess possible ideas for the future. These tents will feature a variety of diagrams, images, and visuals that will showcase multiple concepts for the future of the riverfront.

“This is more than just a display—it’s an interactive experience where community members can imagine future investments and provide input into the types of activities they’d like to engage in around our river,” Wabash River Planning Partnership Chair Lori Danielson said.

Those who come to visit will have the opportunity to talk with landscape architects and experts from the Army Corps of Engineers. This will also give attendees and opportunity to get a look at potential developments like restaurants, hiking trails, buildings, and event spaces. This all will help contribute to the planning process by indicating the community’s preferences through an interactive activity of “investment buckets” to prioritize preferential areas.

“This is a continuation of the community engagement that started last November. By gathering diverse ideas and contributions at the County Fair, we can ensure the development reflects the needs and desires of our community,” said Danielson.

The Wabash River Planning Partnership would like to encourage everyone to come out this Friday and Saturday July 12 and 13. The tents will be located in the food court area in the center of the fairgrounds and will be open both days from one to seven p.m. They also want those who can’t make it to know that they will have other opportunities to give input on the project, including a live survey posted here .

“Join us at the Vigo County Fair and play a pivotal role in shaping our Riverfront’s future. Your input is invaluable in creating a vibrant, welcoming, well-planned community space.”
