‘Stuff the Bus’ program in need of school supplies for students

DUNCANSVILLE, Pa. (WTAJ) — School is out, but a local organization is already thinking about the school year ahead.

The Family Resource Center of Blair County located at 208 Hollidaysburg Plaza, is hosting a ‘Stuff the Bus’ drive to collect school supplies for students in the county.

“This might be someone that goes on to college. This might be someone that goes to a trade school. This might be someone that you’re going to be seeing at Sheetz working behind the counter and going into management someday. We don’t know where these children will go, but if we don’t get them the same start as every other child, we never will,” Denise Adams, Director of the Family Resource Center of Blair County.

Here’s a list of all the items that the resource center is asking for:

“I think families need time to decide if they can be able to afford the supplies themselves. And that gives them a little bit of time. School’s been out almost a month for most kids. You know, this gives them time to say, okay, I’m going to need help this year,” Adams said.

Donations can be dropped off at the Family Resource Center, the Altoona Public Library and Contact Altoona . To volunteer, you can call (814)-317-5108 ext. 308.

If your child needs school supplies and goes to school in Blair County, you can register here . Registration closes on August 2.

School supplies will be distributed on August 15 at the Family Resource Center in Duncansville.
