BLOOMFIELD TWP. (WWJ) — Police in Bloomfield Township are asking for help identifying a man who is hospitalized after being hit by a car early Thursday morning.

The man, believed to be in his 30s, was hit along Woodward Avenue, according to the Bloomfield Township Police Department.

Around 5:15 a.m. on July 11 the department began receiving multiple calls reporting that a man was walking in the left lane of Woodward near Big Beaver Road.

Officers were sent to the area, but while they were on their way police got another 911 call reporting the man had been hit by a car.

The pedestrian was taken to Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, where he remained listed in serious condition Thursday afternoon.

The driver who hit the man called 911, remained on scene, and is cooperating with the investigation, according to police.

Members of the South Oakland County Crash Investigation Team were called to the scene to assist with the investigation, which remains open.

Police describe the victim as a Black man in his 30s, approximately 5-foot-9 with a thin build. No other information has been released.

Officials said Thursday afternoon they had not yet identified him and are asking anyone who knows the victim or knows something about the crash to call the Bloomfield Township Police Department at 248-433-7755.
