Yet another Democratic U.S. representative from Washington state appears to be calling on President Joe Biden to end his reelection bid.

U.S. Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez stopped short of specifically calling for Biden to step aside in the race but urged him to "do what he knows is right for the country and put the national interest first."

Gluesenkamp Perez, who represents Congressional District 3, which is also likely to be the site of a tough election come November, sent a damning email to KGW8 in Portland Thursday .

"I’ve spent the past two weeks listening to my constituents express their concerns about the President’s age and health. Like most people I represent in Southwest Washington, I doubt the President’s judgement about his health, his fitness to do the job, and whether he is the one making important decisions about our country, rather than unelected advisors," she wrote. "Americans deserve to feel their president is fit enough to do the job. The crisis of confidence in the President’s leadership needs to come to an end. The President should do what he knows is right for the country and put the national interest first."

Her comment came just a few hours before Biden was scheduled to appear in a rare solo news conference after he wrapped up a summit with NATO leaders in Washington, D.C.

But it also came just a few days after a spokesperson for Gluesenkamp Perez told Oregon Public Broadcasting that the time to replace Biden with a new candidate had come and gone. That followed Gluesenkamp Perez's prediction that Trump would defeat Biden in November.

Now, Gluesenkamp Perez seems to have implied she no longer believes that's the case.

A spokesperson for the representative did not immediately respond to KUOW's requests to clarify her statement to KGW8.
