KINGSTON, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Free medical care is coming to the residents of Madison and Newton County at two locations, according to a news release.

The United States Department of Defense is teaming up with the Northwest Arkansas Economic Development District to open up the clinic. It’ll be open for 10 days at Kingston School in Madison County and Jasper School in Newton County. This clinic will provide medical, dental, optical, and veterinary care at no cost to the patient.

Emily Knight is the officer in charge of overseeing the free healthcare clinic at Kingston.
For more than two hours on July 11, Knight worked with the U.S. Army Reserve to move heavy truckloads of medical equipment into a gravel parking lot.

“It has been a long process to get everything put together,” Knight said.

“We’ve been planning this for months now, I believe there were three different meetings that came up here to just kind of assess the site and make sure that it was going to work for all the services that we’ll be providing. It’s a lot of planning, and a lot of effort has gone into making it happen,” said Knight.

The U.S. Army Reserve will be set up for the event by July 14 and the first day of the event is on July 16.

“When you come to the event, you’ll see everyone is going to be in a uniform,” Knight said “We’re all reservists of varying ranks who work in different capacities, whether it be dentistry, we have behavioral health as well, and we have doctors coming, nurses, and nurse practitioners, all that kind of stuff.”

    The first come first serve no-cost medical services will start at 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. July 16; from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 17-20; from 8 a.m. to noon July 21; from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 22-24; from 8 a.m. to noon July 25.
