POSEY COUNTY, Ind. (WEHT) – A proposed waste transfer station is drawing some concern from Posey County residents.

The proposal is for the Old Bone Yard off Highway 66 near Old Evansville Road.

Owners of the property say that turning it into a waste transfer station would benefit the community. They went on to say that it could help in emergency situations, such as tornado debris clean ups and cut down on the number of trucks transporting trash.

The Posey County Area Plan Commission granted the company building the station a special use permit in a public meeting. The proposal for the station passed the board of zoning appeals. Several people for and against the project spoke up during the meeting.
