Chinese Drama The Princess Royal Episode 30 Recap & Spoilers

The ongoing costume Chinese drama, The Princess Royal , featuring Zhao Jinmai and Zhang Linghe , released episode 30 on July 11, 2024. As seen in the previous installments , the series follows the story of Li Rong (Zhao Jinmai) and Pei Wen Xuan (Zhang Linghe) as a miracle gives them a second chance at life. Episode 30 focuses on Wenxuan investigating the fraud surrounding the spring examination.

In this episode, Pei Wenxuan interrogates the scholars who have been protesting outside the imperial court. The leader, Wen Xingzhi, reveals that someone stole his candidacy. He found out about this when he asked his friends from around the country to check the published essays on the bulletin boards. His essay was found in the next county. Wenxuan promises that Consort Rou will see to it and bring them justice. After they take their leave, Rou visits Wenxuan.

Wenxuan gives her a quick briefing on what he has gathered from interrogating the protestors. Not only are they from the same province, but they all found out that their names have been replaced on the bulletins. Wenxuan concludes that the scripts might have been tampered with when the officials opened them to check and sent them back to the counties.

Rou is impressed with Wenxuan’s findings. He is not afraid to investigate the officials who come from noble families, including an influential family like the Shangguans. After Consort Rou leaves the entire investigation in Wenxuan’s hands, Shangguan Ya decides to play along with him.

Further in the episode, Wenxuan arrests the suspects from the Shangguan family on behalf of Prince Su and brings them to Rou. Furthermore, he takes more officials into custody following a list given by Rou. Because of this, he receives praise from the general public and also from Consort Rou.

Why does Zhang Linghe arrest noble officials?

Meanwhile, Rou comes up with the idea to stop the investigation for the time being and conduct the examination first. Furthermore, she asks for Wenxuan’s help to arrest official Wang. After Wenxuan and his subordinates surround Wang’s mansion, he refuses to come out. This leads to Wang asking for Su Rongqing’s help. As Wenxuan barges inside the mansion, he gets into a huge argument with Rongqing, who accuses him of vandalizing private property. In the end, Ronhqing takes him into custody on behalf of the Ministry of Justice.

As soon as Li Rong hears the news of Wenxuan’s arrest, she gets agitated. Furthermore, she somehow controls herself from going to the palace and instead asks her maid to send someone to check on him.

Meanwhile, Rongqing summons Wenxuan for tea and gets his injuries treated. Wenxuan reveals that he knows about Rongqing’s plan to use him as a pawn to threaten Consort Ruo. However, his next question stuns Rongqing. He asks him if he is reborn as well. Rongqing reveals that he traveled back in time and woke up one month before the princess’s spring banquet. Rongqing reveals that he wants them to be happy. But Wenxuan knows his true intentions—to prevent Li Chuan from ascending the throne.

What happens in The Princess Royal episode 30’s ending?

Su Rongqing comes face-to-face with the princess outside his office. She reveals that she is aware of his villainous intent and that she will hate him forever if he lays a finger on Wenxuan. Seeing Li Rong and Wenxuan’s closeness breaks Rongqing’s heart.

Wenxuan reveals that Consort Rou has asked him to negotiate with the protestors with the offer that they would be given a large sum of money in exchange for dropping the case. This way, she will be able to repair her public image. Li Rong takes him to her palace to care for him.
