This couple may have crashed a complete stranger’s wedding, but at least they brought a gift! Ben Carroll has been recounting the most hilarious story from his sister’s big day in Virginia. Newsweek tells us that it all started at the hotel where the wedding guests were staying. There, a couple began inquiring about the event. Everyone thought they were simply making conversation, but it turns out that they were planning to become wedding crashers!

“I noticed the crashers at the time only because they were being thrown out,” Ben told the media outlet. “As I saw them being escorted from the bar to the door, I realized that I didn’t recognize them. Nobody had any conversations with them that I know of at the wedding.”

Although someone removed the wedding crashers from the premises, the newlyweds later discovered that they’d left a gift behind. Among the envelopes from friends and family was a card from someone they didn’t know. They figured it had to be from the couple that had crashed the wedding!

Here’s what was in the card.

Inside the card was a touching note and a cash gift of $11.54. Although the couple had signed the card “Uncle David and Aunt Nancy,” no one knew who they were. Apparently, the newlyweds and their family thought it was pretty funny that the wedding crashers had left a present!

“When they saw the card and money yesterday, they instantly knew who it was,” said Ben.

Ben Carroll decided to share a photo of the card and money on Reddit , where he included a message to the couple that had crashed his sister’s wedding.

“David and Nancy, wherever you are, you provided us with a lifelong story and a core memory,” he wrote in the comments. “Sorry you got kicked out. From the looks of it, you thoroughly enjoyed yourselves!”
