    Early voting begins Friday for Aug. 1 election, runs through July 27

    Early voting for the Aug. 1 election is set to begin Friday for the Aug. 1 Primary for U.S. Senate and House, State Senate and House.

    In addition, county general elections for vacant state judicial offices and certain county offices, such as seats on the Maury County School Board and the Maury County Commission.

    The upcoming Nov. 5 will again feature primary winners in the U.S. and State House and Senate seats, as well as city elections for Columbia City Council and Mt. Pleasant City Commission.

    “Early voting begins this Friday, and we want all registered Tennesseans to utilize our robust early voting period as a convenient way to cast a ballot and make their voices heard,” Secretary of State Tre Hargett stated in a press release.

    Early voting will run through Saturday, July 27.

    Where and how to vote?

    As will all elections, early voting may only be done at the Maury County Election Commission, 1207 Tradewinds Drive.

    Voting hours will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday. To contact the election commission, or information on how to submit a paper ballot, call (931) 375-6001.

    Election Day Aug 1 votes will need to be cast at each voter's respective precinct, which can be found on your voter ID card.

    “Early voting is quick and easy, and registered Tennessee voters will likely experience shorter wait times during early voting,” said State Coordinator of Elections Mark Goins. “I encourage all eligible Tennessee voters to take advantage of the convenience of early voting.”
