    Restaurant inspections from Monroe County, July 1-7

    These establishments in Monroe County were inspected between July 1 and 7, according to Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture records .

    The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture provides this disclosure: "Please remember that any inspection is a 'snapshot' of the day and time of the inspection. An inspection conducted on any given day may not be representative of the overall, long-term cleanliness of an establishment. Also, at the time of the inspection, violations are recorded but are often corrected on site prior to the inspector leaving the establishment."

    Out of compliance

    Secret Tea House: 366 N. Courtland St., East Stroudsburg

    Inspected July 2. Jurisdiction: East Stroudsburg Borough. Violations: 5

    Inspector determined the person in charge did not have adequate knowledge of food safety. Inspector observed the handle of the scoop for dispensing spicy salmon being stored in contact with the food and not with the handle above the top of the food and the container (salmon was discarded); rice being held at too low a temperature; raw salmon, chicken and shrimp being held at too high a temperature in the bain marie; and thermometers for ensuring proper temperatures of food were not available or readily accessible.

    Inspected July 1. Jurisdiction: Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. Violations: 3

    Inspector observed food employees in the kitchen area not wearing proper hair restraints. Observed a buildup of old food and old food residue on the blade, frame and guard of the deli meat slicer; old food on the blade of the manual can opener; and a buildup of old food residue on the interior surfaces of the microwave oven. Observed floors in the kitchen area were extremely dirty and the kitchen area was extremely dirty and dusty.

    Dunkin’: 2055 Route 611 Swiftwater

    Inspected July 1. Jurisdiction: Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. Violations: 6

    Inspector observed a food dispensing utensil in bulk sugar stored in the food and not with handle above the top of the food and the container and food utensils in counter service area stored in a container of water not maintained at the proper temperature; a black and pink mold-like substance in and around the ice chute and interior surfaces of the ice machine; a broken faucet at the handwash sink at the counter service area; and old food residue, dishes and utensils in the handwash sink, indicating uses other than handwashing. Observed the women's toilet room was not provided with a covered waste receptacle for sanitary napkins; and mops not being hung to air dry.

    Chohan Food Mart: 2756 Route 611, Tannersville

    Inspected July 1. Jurisdiction: Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. Violations: 3

    Inspector observed a buildup of old food residue on the interior surfaces of the microwave oven; a buildup of old food residue on the the cappuccino dispenser; and a buildup of dust on the fan guards in the walk-in cooler.

    Cinder Inn: 91 Mill Creek Road, East Stroudsburg

    Inspected July 2. Jurisdiction: East Stroudsburg Borough. Violations: 3

    Inspector observed sanitizer test strips or test kit to determine appropriate sanitizer concentration in dishwasher final rinse were not available; studs in the area of the entrance to the walk-in freezer were exposed and subject to moisture.; and soap and single-use towels, continuous towels or an air drying device were not available at the handwash sink in the food prep area.

    Salvation Army: 226 Washington St., East Stroudsburg

    Inspected July 3. Jurisdiction: East Stroudsburg Borough. Violations: 1

    Inspector observed the handwash sink in the kitchen area did not have water at a temperature of at least 100 degrees.

    Pocono Services for Families and Children: 212 W. 4th St., East Stroudsburg

    Inspected July 3. Jurisdiction: East Stroudsburg Borough. Violations: 1

    Inspector observed mops not being hung to air dry.

    Pinemere Camp: 865 Bartonsville Woods Road, Stroudsburg

    Inspected July 3. Jurisdiction: Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. Violations: 2

    Inspector observed a black and pink mold-like substance on the interior surfaces of two ice machines (cleaned and sanitized); and a drain pipe leaking at the rear handwash sink.

    No violations

    These facilities each had zero violations.

    Log Cabin Bar & Grill hot dog stand: 1000 Premium Outlets Drive, Unit G-2, Tannersville; July 1; Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture.

    Pocono Inn & Banquet: 101 Broad St., Delaware Water Gap; July 2; Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. Follow-up inspection after being out of compliance with eight violations on May 30.

    Eagles Rest Cellars: 107 Eagles Rest Lane, Stroudsburg; July 2; Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture.
