The Strongest Magician in Demon Lord’s Army Was a Human episode 3 was released on Thursday, July 11, 2024, on Crunchyroll. The episode , titled “Traitor,” starts with the White Rose Knights Commander Alistair holding Ike at knifepoint and asking him if he is human.

Ike uses a magic spell to freeze Alistair and the guards’ senses. He casts another spell to blow the guards out of the hall but saves their lives. Moreover, he protects Alistair when she falls and introduces himself as the commander of the Demon Lord’s Seventh Army Corps Undying Brigade.

Ike further explains that he cannot possibly be human since he works for the Demon Lord. When he asks if Alistair sent an assassin to kill him, she refuses to answer. Later, he uses a mind-reading spell to find out the truth.

Lilith and Ike leave after informing Alistair. Earlier, he had read her mind and figured she had nothing to do with the assassination attempt. Ike returns home to Satie and gives her rice as a present. After explaining his idea to expand services in Ivalias, he asks her to cook the rice. Satie states she doesn’t know how to cook rice, but Ike tells her he believes in her skills, so Satie happily agrees to figure out how to cook it.

Later, Ike asks Jiron to gather his army since he suspects someone from the army is a traitor. Despite being hit by a White Rose Knights arrow, he recalls Alistair had nothing to do with the attack. Hence, he deduces that a spy in his army must want to kill him.

Accordingly, Ike uses mind reading to find the spy and teleports to him. Ike visits Cefiro to inform him of the spy’s identity, telling her it is the second in command of the Seventh Corps, Jace. Cefiro tells him she had guessed he would be the spy and says they would make him pay for his actions.

Jace vs. Ike and Cefiro begins

Elsewhere, Jace’s confidants inform him that Ike went to see Cefiro. Jace is surprised Ike has recovered and asks the assassin if he shot him properly. The assassin assures him he shot him through the chest. Another subordinate informs Jace that their spy in the Undying Brigade has suddenly disappeared.

Jace suspects they have been discovered and prepares to gather his forces immediately. Meanwhile, another subordinate informs Jace that Ike has come to see him alone. The former brings his army to meet with Ike. Jace taunts Ike for getting injured in the last battle, stating he should have been more careful as a brigade commander. Ike agrees and says he should have been cautious, especially around potential traitors.

Jace proudly tells him that his army has twice the strength of Ike’s army and mocks him for coming alone. However, unbeknownst to Jace, various fire-based attacks destroy the village and his army. Ike offers Jace two choices: either to surrender right away or after he has lost everything. However, Jace attempts to escape after commanding his troops to kill the former. While Ike is busy handling the troops, Jace escapes using a secret path.

The Demon Lord summons Cefiro and Ike

Cefiro and Ike find Jace with the help of one of Ike’s familiars. Ike asks Jace to surrender, but the traitor attacks him. So, Ike binds him to a tree, and Jace admits that he has relentless talent. The latter offers Ike to join hands and take over the Demon Lord’s army together since the current monarch seems incompetent.

Suddenly, Ike and Cefiro find Jace is poisoned by one of his comrades. Ike uses an antidote spell to cure him, but to no avail. Finally, Jace reveals the name of the traitors. Cefiro informs the Demon Lord that the traitor is the head of the Third Corps, Basteo. The episode ends with the Demon Lord asking for clarification from a Dullahan.
