As it turns out, pre-wedding jitters happen to everyone - including members of the Royal family .

Prince William was not immune to nerves on the eve of his wedding to Princess Kate . On April 19, 2011, the couple were married at Westminster Abbey. Ahead of the ceremony , Kate traveled with her father from the Goring Hotel down The Mall to Parliament Square.

William emerged from Clarence House the night before, where he stayed with his best man and brother Prince Harry , and made a shocking confession. Met with cheers from a supportive crowd, William spoke with a fan who had come to celebrate ahead of his big day.

"I hope I'm not too nervous tomorrow," he confessed during the short interaction. Meanwhile, across London, a smiling Kate was seen greeting fans gathered outside the Goring Hotel in London.

The bride-to-be spent the night before her wedding in the luxury hotel's Royal Suite, where she was accompanied by maid of honor (and sister) Pippa Middleton, along with mom Carole Middleton. After a dress rehearsal at Westminster Abbey, Kate and her family arrived at the hotel where she cheerfully waved to well-wishers.

Upon his arrival at Westminster Abbey on the big day, William appeared to be quite nervous, according to body language expert Darren Stanton. Speaking to The Express , Stanton revealed: "When William arrived at Westminster Abbey, you could sense he was nervous as he was wringing his hands together.

"It's quite a natural response for a wedding day, with most people feeling nervous or anxious. You could see his heart was racing and he was wringing his hands together, which are both gestures of feeling apprehensive."

Stanton praised Kate's calm demeanor, which he said helped William proceed with the ceremony in a composed manner. He stated: "She was very similar to the confident Kate that we see now. As the ceremony went on, it was clear that she gave strength to William and built up his confidence. His emotions were initially quite high and he was full of nerves, but he soon relaxed with Kate by his side."

As of July 2024, Prince William and Princess Kate, now known as the Prince and Princess of Wales, have been happily married for 13 years. They are proud parents to three children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
