Albuquerque

• July 12-13 The Show – Albuquerque’s longest-running comedy show happens every Friday and Saturday at 9:00 p.m. Tickets are $12.
• July 12-14 Tattoo Fiesta – Isleta Resort and Casino is hosting the event this weekend. Day passes are $30 and weekend passes are $50.
• July 12 AutFest New Mexico: A Celebration of Autistic Women – This event is at HOtel Andealuz beginning at 9:00 a.m. Tickets are $50.
• July 13 Zero-Proof Fest – Alcohol-free drinks live music, and fun activities will be had at Bataan Park beginning at 11:00 a.m.
• July 13 Downtown Growers’ Market – This happens every Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to noon at Robinson Park.
• July 13-14 Flea Market – Head to ExpoNM to check out trinkets, charms, and more. Admission is $10 per car or $2 for walk-ups.
• July 14 Rail Yards Market Birthday Party – The Rail Yards Market ABQ is celebrating 10 years with special merchandise, music, and more.
• July 14 Indigenous Market – It’s the Indigenous Market’s last market of July from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at 2715 4th St NW.
• July 17 The Rocky Horror Picture Show – This showing of the 1975 cult classic at the HIsotric Lobo Theater begins at 7:00 p.m. Doors open at 5:00 p.m.
• July 17 Albuquerque Songwriters’ Cooperative Open Mic Night at Ancora – Every Wednesday night, Ancora Cafe and Bakery offers an open mic from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

• July 12 Rez Fest – This event presented by the Daleee KTAOS Solar Center begins in El Prado at 6:00 p.m.
• July 12 Family Field Day – This event at the Artesia Historical Museum and Art Center at 6:00 p.m.
• July 12 Make and Believe Time – This kids’ art and story time inside Meow Wolf Santa Fe begins at 10:00 a.m.
• July 12-14 River Music Gathering – Music by Casey James, Amanda Kate Ferris, Michael Smith, and Jenna Lisa Burns will be performing this weekend in Red River.
• July 13 2024 Market Season-Saturdays – The Seasonal Farmers Market in Alamogordo begins at 10:00 a.m.
• July 13 Shadow Drawing – This event at the Roswell Museum will include free family activities at 10:00 a.m. and a free planetarium special screening at 11:00 a.m.
• July 13 Taos Pop-Up Market – This event at Challups Pizza in Taos begins at 10:00 a.m.
• July 13 Saturday Farmers Market – The Santa Fe Farmers’ Market is open year-round on Saturdays in the heart of the Santa Fe Railyard.
• July 14 Sunday Chess Club – Popolo’s Games in Taos will host this free chess club open to all ages at 1:00 p.m.
• July 16 Swing on the Plaza – This all-ages event consists of a free swing dance lesson at 7:00 p.m. and then an open dance at 8:00 p.m. at Plaza De Las Cruces.

Albuquerque Notices

🔶 Museum of Nuclear Science and History opening new exhibit – The National Museum of Nuclear Science and History is unveiling a new exhibit: Mission Aerospace. The new exhibit is a multi-layered, interactive exploration of aviation history and aerospace milestones. The new exhibit opens June 22 and runs through October 6.

🔶 What are the rules for parking in Albuquerque neighborhoods? – Many of the rules for parking are laid out in the city’s Code of Ordinances. Those are generally enforceable by Albuquerque Police officers, and violating the ordinances can result in a fine.

🔶 City of Albuquerque providing food, clothes for families in need – The City of Albuquerque has several resources available for families who may need assistance with food and clothes during the summer. Resources include summer youth programs, clothing banks, and food assistance.

🔶 Summer program helps Albuquerque students prepare for next school year – Horizons Albuquerque is helping under-resourced students in grades 1 through 11 with the goal of advancing educational equity. Students not only focus on academics, but also learn skills like guitar playing, robotics, and how to swim.

🔶 Albuquerque, Bernalillo County look to improve public access to social services – The city and county partnered with Unite Us to “streamline the referral process for resources such as food, housing, and behavioral health services. Unite Us is already used by Dona Ana County, Santa Fe County, and Presbyterian Health Services.

🔶 Bernalillo County offering free movie nights at local community centers – The free movie nights will include family-friendly films like 101 Dalmatians and Wonka. The movies will be shown on weekends starting at sundown. Gates open at 7:00 p.m., and moviegoers are welcome to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and snacks.

🔶 City of Albuquerque looking for volunteers to help monitor trails – Trail Watch volunteers work under the Open Space Division and report wildlife and visitor activities, maintenance needs, suspicious activity, and other information. Training and a background check are required to become a Trail Watch Volunteer.

🔶 Free summer lunch program returns in Bernalillo County – Beginning June 3, free lunch will be served daily to children at different locations around Bernalillo County. Children must be between the ages of 1 to 18 years old to receive a meal. Meals must be consumed at the meal site (except for non-congregate sites), all meals are first come, first served, and participants must receive the entire meal.

🔶 Explora hosting Mosaic of Marks, Words, and Material exhibition – The exhibition runs from May 15 – August 16. The exhibit will include an art studio where young visitors, their families, and educators can explore hands-on mark-making materials.

🔶 New Mexico State Fair holding auditions to sing the National Anthem – The live auditions will be at the Boxcar Stage from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the EXPO New Mexico on August 6. To audition live, you must sign up by August 5.

New Mexico Notices

🔶 Free summer food service program for children resumes in New Mexico – The Early Childhood Education and Care Department in New Mexico has begun its free food service for children ages 1-18. The service aims to provide free meals to children during summer break. The department said more than 600 locations in the state are providing free meals through August.

🔶 ACLU-NM, advocates ask New Mexico governor to halt special session – The governor called the special session with a plan to address the state’s criminal code and the rules for determining competency to stand trial. The groups say there are community issues that need solutions, but that more time is needed to develop those solutions.

🔶 New Mexico wants federal government to pay for PFAS cleanup at air force bases – The state’s environment department and the attorney general have been working to hold the U.S. Department of Defense accountable for contamination at Cannon and Holloman Air Force Bases. Now, they are expanding the scope of a lawsuit and using a new federal rule to try to get the Department of Defense to pay for cleanup.

🔶 New Mexico high school graduation rate continues slow climb – The latest high school graduation data for the 2023 cohort shows that New Mexico schools are making consistent progress toward higher graduation rates. Career Technical Education students, in particular, graduated at a high rate.

🔶 FEMA advises on how South Fork, Salt fire victims can get reimbursed for tools – If you are self-employed, FEMA may be able to provide funds to repair or replace disaster-damaged tools and equipment required for your work. FEMA may also be able to help if you are an employee and you lost tools or equipment required for your job and not reimbursable by your employer.

🔶 Santa Fe National Forest issues partial camping closure order to ‘prevent further resource damage’ – The forest said the closure is needed to “prevent further resource damage caused by an increase in unauthorized long-term camping, vandalism, and trash dumping.” The order went into effect on June 21, 2024, and will expire on Dec. 31, 2025, unless rescinded.

🔶 Delinquent property tax auctions set in 2 New Mexico counties – The Taxation and Revenue Department has scheduled the auctions as the state attempts to collect delinquent property taxes when counties are unable to do so. If the state is unable to collect the delinquent taxes, the subject properties are auctioned for sale.

🔶 Rail Runner offering free rides for students – Students ages 17 and under will be able to ride the Rail Runner Express for free starting June 1. The promotion will run through July 31.

🔶 Santa Fe hosts ‘Summer Fire Truck Spray Down’ events for kids – The City of Santa Fe Community Engagement Department and Santa Fe Fire Department are providing a free way for kids to cool down this summer. The departments are hosting “Summer Fire Truck Spray Down” events at Swan Park.

🔶 Summer events in Cloudcroft, New Mexico – From art festivals to local beer, Cloudcroft is inviting visitors all summer. The 51st Annual May Fair Juried Art Fair will be May 25 – 26 at Zenith Park. The Cloudcroft BeerFest will be June 22 – 23. July 13 – 14 at Zenith Park is the Christmas in July Jamboree.
