In recent years, health-conscious consumers have tried to eat less pre-packaged foods. Like many others, once I removed these ultra-processed items, I noticed an improvement in my overall well-being. Although switching your staples can seem like a daunting task, there are equally easy options available on store shelves.

Places like Walmart offer a great selection of healthier alternatives at some of the best prices. Watch this video from July 7 to see where you can make simple swaps.

Thankfully, we don't have to shop at specialty stores with high price tags to find some healthy alternatives. As @ holyyholistic shows us, there is plenty to choose from. Even better, stores like Walmart offer grocery pickup or home delivery, so we save money and time!

    1. Swap mass-produced salad dressings. Avoid those containing seed oils with dressings from Primal Kitchen that use pure avocado oil instead. As she points out, we can also make them at home from scratch to save some money.

    2. Mayonnaise. It also contains oils like soybean and canola, but we can exchange our Hellmann's for all avocado-oil Chosen Foods. Although it does take a little getting used to, I've grown to enjoy its flavor.

    3. Canned soups. They often contain flavorings, sugars, and fillers. But we can trade those for the Pacific Foods brand, which is cleaner, organic, and affordable.

    4. Boxed pastas. They contain synthetic vitamins, which can disrupt the gut. Instead, she suggests using something like Jovial Organic. Not only does it taste good, she tells us, but it's easier to digest with only two ingredients.

    5. Muffin and cake mixes. They're another source of high fructose corn syrup, artificial flavors, and gums. But you can feel good about switching to Simple Mills if you have a craving. Their options are both gluten and dairy-free.

    6. Fancy labels. Just because something is expensive, like $7 peanut butter with palm oil, doesn't mean it's healthy. Instead, she suggests exchanging it for Smuckers Organic.

    7. Cereals. Purely Elizabeth granola contains only organic ingredients and is an excellent trade for highly processed cereals.

    8. Oreos. Although Oreos might be tasty, they contain artificial flavors, food, dyes, and high fructose corn syrup . She reveals a healthy swap: Siete cookies.

    9. Soda. She's a fan of Olipop for soda drinkers. Rather than a bottle of Sprite, which can have 53 g of sugar, this can contains only 2g of sugar plus 9 g of fiber.

If you haven't shopped at Walmart in a while, you might also be pleasantly surprised to learn that they offer a wide variety of organic products, including meats, vegetables, and fruit. The prices of these items are often comparable to or better than those of non-organics, which you can find at most grocery stores.
