    Flash flood warning issued in Central Virginia

    RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning to several Central Virginia counties and cities on Friday.

    The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for the following areas until 8:45 p.m. on Friday, July 12:

    • Middlesex County

    The following areas are under a flash flood warning until 9 p.m. Friday:

    • Brunswick County
    • Emporia City
    • Richmond City
    • Greensville County
    • Henrico County

    The following areas are under a flash flood warning until 10 p.m. Friday:

    • Prince George County
    • Sussex County

    Drivers are advised to “turn around, don’t drown” when encountering flooded roads. According to the National Weather Service, most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

    Residents are advised to move to higher ground.
